PAA’s commitment
The Pedorthic Association of Australia (PAA) is an Incorporated Association registered as a registrable Australian body that represents its members in matters pertaining to pedorthics and the pedorthic profession in Australia. The PAA is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information collected by the Association.
This Privacy Policy sets out how PAA collects, manages and discloses personal information, and your rights regarding any information you supply to the Association. The PAA complies with relevant Australian State and Territory legislation regarding the management of personal information together with the Privacy Act 1988. It also strives to meet the requirements of the Australian Privacy Principles.
Your information and your right to privacy
The PAA collects personal information to enable us to register and manage membership status, communicate with members, provide referrals to the public, report on membership status, collate general professional data, provide contacts for research purposes and perform other activities related to the Association’s functions. We also collect information to facilitate product offers, events, and activities to members and non-members. You can elect to provide as much or as little information as you choose, although the PAA requires a minimum set of information to provide access to its website (www.pedorthics.org.au).
The PAA will under no circumstances sell, trade, or rent any personal information you provide to any third party. The PAA has partnerships with commercial organisations, and these partners may request that information be sent to people on the PAA database as part of the partnership agreement.
The Association may disclose personal information to the following third parties to satisfy standard operating procedures of the PAA:
- IT service providers
- Marketing and communication agencies
- Agencies that conduct member surveys on our behalf
- Mailing houses
- Printers that print and distribute our publications and marketing material
By using the website and the PAA’s services, you acknowledge and accept that the PAA will use your personal data as set out in this Privacy Policy.
If you do not accept this Privacy Policy, please stop using the site immediately and/or the PAA’s services or any part of them. Under these circumstances, you will not be able to register or purchase anything further using the website.

The PAA endeavours to protect personal information at all times and adheres to the principles set out in data protection legislation when handling personal data. The Association’s database information is protected by password access. Association emails are not encrypted, and authors of email content should be mindful not to include personal, sensitive, or commercial in-confidence material.
Collecting information
The PAA may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you. It collects and processes personal data about you when you:
- Access and use the PAA website and its services
- Register an account on the PAA website
- Leave a comment on the PAA website
- Enquire about a particular product on the PAA website
- Submit a general enquiry to the PAA via the PAA website

The PAA may also collect, use and share aggregated data such as statistical or demographic data. Aggregated data is derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data under data protection law as it does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. However, if the PAA combines or connects aggregated data with your personal data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, the Association treats the combined data as personal data, which will be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Access to personal information
Members have the right to review and alter any personal membership information that the PAA stores about you. Should you wish to access this information, please contact the PAA via email at info@pedorthics.org.au. There will be no charge for providing you with access unless the access you request requires special steps or significant resources.
We request members confirm or update their information as needed. To change their personal information, members must log in to their member account with their unique login and password via the PAA website.
Opt-out
By choosing to register on the PAA website as a PAA member or member delegate, exhibitor, sponsor, or event delegate, you may receive information from the PAA via email regarding membership, PAA services, PAA partner information and/or offers. The PAA uses this method to communicate quickly with you. You have the right to refuse inclusion on a mailing list. You can request to remove your email address from a mailing list by contacting the PAA at info@pedorthics.org.au.
The PAA uses your email address, postal address, and phone number to contact you regarding administrative notices, publications, and communications relevant to your use of the PAA website. If you do not wish to receive these communications, you can opt-out by contacting the PAA at info@pedorthics.org.au.
Cookies
As part of the normal operation of the PAA website, your internet browser will be sent a “cookie”, which is a temporary internet file. This cookie enhances the site’s functionality with features such as membership login and electronic ordering. The cookie can only identify your computer to the PAA’s server; it is not used to identify you personally.
Certified Pedorthists and PAA membership
If you are a Certified Pedorthist, the PAA will request additional personal details. Relevant information is only disclosed via the PAA’s “Find a Certified Pedorthist” online search directory. You may opt out of being featured on this online public listing by contacting the PAA at info@pedorthics.org.au.
Security and storage
The PAA is committed to ensuring that the information you provide to us is secure. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place appropriate electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure information.
While the PAA takes all necessary steps to safeguard against unauthorised disclosures of information, the Association cannot wholly guarantee that personal information that we collect will not be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.
Your password access to the PAA website protects your privacy. We recommend that you do not disclose, share, or reveal this password to any individual, business or organisation.
PAA member and client privacy
The PAA is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality and security of personal information provided to the PAA by you.
You have the right to access personal information about yourself held by the PAA and to correct inaccurate information. To change your information, you must log into your member account with your unique login and password via the PAA website at www.pedorthics.org.au.
The information you have provided to the PAA may be used to:
- Process and fulfil product and event orders, including shipping, issuing of tickets, event registrations, and which are outlined in individual product and event terms and conditions.
- Process membership applications and membership renewals
- Update membership records
- Report on membership status
- Notify members of the public that you meet PAA’s credentialing requirements.
- Provide information to consumers and others on the availability of pedorthic services.
- Conduct market research to identify and analyse the ongoing needs of PAA members.
- Ensure compliance with the PAA’s Constitution and Code of Ethics and Standards.
- Provide you with PAA publications and information
- Provide you with access to and information about current and future member benefits
- Communicate and cooperate with other health organisations, professional bodies, and government departments and agencies
- Collate data about the profession
- Investigate and manage complaints about members
- Publish information regarding disciplinary matters or complaints, and provide such information to external organisations, including other professional bodies, regulatory bodies and agencies
- Review and assess applications for employment with the Association
- Administer third party relationships, such as contractors, conference sponsors, conference exhibitors and agents
- Plan, manage, review, and audit our activities and processes
- Perform any other PAA functions or activities
Consent
You acknowledge and agree that by providing your personal information to the PAA, the Association, its related committees, working groups and partners, and each of their officers, employees, agents and contractors are permitted to collect, store, use and disclose your personal information in the manner set out in this Privacy Policy and in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles including the Privacy Act 1988.
