PAA Membership Classes & Pricing
The Pedorthic Association of Australia primarily embraces key stakeholders involved in pedorthic footwear, pedorthic appliances and orthoses specific to the foot/ankle in all their forms and procedures, including assessment, manufacture, dispensing, modification and repair; in the rehabilitation and treatment of patients; research and development; evaluation, and education and training.
The PAA also offers membership to individuals with a specific interest in the field of pedorthics.
Please note, voting rights are limited to all Certified members admitted into the PAA prior to 22nd October 2021, and only Certified Pedorthist Custom Maker members admitted after 22nd October 2021.
Certified membership is available to certified pedorthists who meet the eligibility criteria relevant to their specific certification level. Certified members are actively involved in pedorthics and are certified practitioners by the APRB (Australian Pedorthists Registration Board) Committee. Certified membership is also offered to pedorthists who hold reciprocal overseas qualifications.
There are three classes of certified members:
- Certified Pedorthist Custom Maker (CPedCM Au) Member
- Certified Pedorthist (CPed Au) Member
- Certified Pedorthic Retailer (CRetPed Au) Member
Special Interest Member
This class of membership is available for individuals who are ineligible for PAA Certified Membership but are actively interested in pedorthics. For example pedorthic technicians and allied health professionals who wish to remain informed and connected with the profession and community.
Student memberships are available to students currently enrolled in a PAA accredited tertiary course. Student membership status will lapse on 30th June of the year conferring qualifications or discontinuation from the course, at which time the student member will need to transition to either a Certified or Special Interest membership.
This membership is for those who have retired from the pedorthic profession and are no longer practising as a pedorthist.
Other Membership Types
Provisional membership is a temporary membership status that covers the period in which the practitioner is progressing towards acceptance for the appropriate certification membership. For example, a certified membership applicant yet to sit and pass a certification panel or a person enrolled in a PAA Resumption of Practice Program.
Leave of Absence Member
Leave of absence is a discounted membership available to certified members who intend to take a break from practice for an extended period. The minimum length of time for a leave of absence is 6 months.
Life members are professionals specifically honoured for their dedication and service to the pedorthic industry who have been awarded lifetime membership of the Association. Each membership class can become eligible for Life membership status.
Active Non-Certified Member
Non-Certified members are professionals actively involved in pedorthics who have not been certified as pedorthists by the APRB Committee.
Please note: As of 22 October 2021, this membership class has closed to new persons.
