Today is World Diabetes Day.

- Every 20 seconds, someone in the world loses a limb to diabetes.

- Every year, over 4000 people undergo a diabetes-related amputation in Australia.

- 4 out of 5 of these amputations could be prevented with proper attention to foot care, correct advice, and rapid access to preventative services.

Pedorthists play a vital role in offering preventative and accommodative footwear and orthotic devices to people suffering from diabetes-related foot conditions. And we believe prevention starts from the feet-up.

Follow the link to Find a Pedorthist in your area to check your feet and footwear and let's work together to end diabetes!

Where should Pedorthics in Australia be in five years time? Ten years time?
What are the obstacles to overcome?
Where has the profession excelled and where has it underachieved?

Australia is a big, broad land with large areas of unserviced areas. Is this a concern for you?

Service delivery standards for Pedorthics - are they high or are they low? Is it a mixed bag? Or just right?

What are your thoughts and ideas and inspiration on what Pedorthics should be doing in five or ten years time?

Today, the PAA Board of Management is meeting for the first time since the AGM.

It's really up to the whole community to have their say in what the peak body should be putting our resources into.
