The National Association of Diabetes Centres has released the NADC Collaborative Interdisciplinary Diabetes High-Risk Foot Service Standards.

It highlights an interdisciplinary approach to diabetic foot care, and puts a strong focus on the important role Pedorthists can play in HRFS.

NADC members, Ellaine Pretorus and Sayed Ahmed, will be presenting at the our symposium Pedorthics: Striding Ahead to Better Foot Health on the 21st-22nd of September in Adelaide.
This is the perfect opportunity to hear from two diabetic foot care experts who played an import role in developing these new national standards.

Dr. Pretorius is the Divisional Director for Medicine, Northern Adelaide Local Health Network. She is also the Chair of the NALHN Mortality and Morbidity Committee, a member of the National Australian Diabetes Centres Steering Committee and the Chair of the NADC Accreditation Committee.

Elaine is also a member of the NADC Foot Netweork Executive Committee and participated in the development of the National Standards for Accreditation of Foot Services.

She has completed a Master's Degree in Health Care Management and is currently undertaking an Executive Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administration.

KARL HEINZ-SCHOTT

Karl is a Certified Pedorthist, gathering knowledge and experience over three decades. He has conducted training in Australia & Japan over the past 25 years, and has been heavily involved in pedorthic educational issues in
Australia over the past 15 years.

Karl was instrumental in the initiation of the Bachelor of Pedorthics Degree program at Southern Cross University in Queensland. Karl has also been president of the Pedorthic Association of Australia and has been the president of the International Pedorthic Association based in Europe.

Karl Schott, with Co-presenter Klaas Postema, worked on the Diabetic Foot Australia guideline on footwear for people with diabetes, which was released earlier in 2018. They will present the major aspects of the paper in order to help pedorthic and foot health practitioners put this valuable work into best clinical practice.
